OMG – Gluttonously Sinful

I was making my way through the most silent Victorian road of Fort and amidst quaint stone building with well-dressed king size window grill caught my attention... I stopped my taxi and went and poked my nose sandwiched between those grill and it turned out to be Café - The Café Universal. Without giving second thought I called up Pyaar (Siby) and whined that we have to cover this place.

The Café Universal reminds you of those beautiful ancient sophisticated Irish Café.... the Café adorns itself with elegantly carved grills, spacious windows, plank flooring and comfy wooden table & chairs. Just right place to let your hair down, stretch your leg with scrumptious food and beer.... over the display of fascinating and out of imagination paintings along with decoratively arranged alcohol bottles on the wall  (don't forget to spot the big fat giant lobster). The Café offers you with tandoori, Dhansak (mix of dal, vegetables & meat), meaty burger, Beef Chilli, Fried Prawns in Garlic Sauce and vast range of Sizzlers and tons of mouth watering distinguished dishes. Among the crowd what stands up is OMG - the  Greedy looking Burger / Gluttoniously Sin – 4 pieces of Steak + 6 cheese slices + lots of veggies + cruelly held by sesame seed sprinkled buns (Courtesy to Knife) + mountainous mound full of fries on the side of the plate (Huh!!! Phew!!! – already feeling full).

Don’t go on in its dire + calamitous look…. Just close your eyes, take a deep breath and ask the waiter to cut into halves and serve U (it’s easier, yummy and fun to eat in messy way)…. And ask for Masala Lemonade (we gulped down 3 each with this indulgence burger).  The moment it reaches your mouth you will get the flavoring aroma of delicate Persian essence with an impulsive Italian tinge. The whole gruesome war of gorging the half burger was like pampering your tastebuds, combating to keep buns, veggies, steak in an order to feel the divine combo of all three. The overall experience of the Café and OMG was mollycoddling the soft corner of you foodie heart of this fast-paced city with flavours of a long-gone epoch and far-flung lands. We would love to give our warm thanks to the 300 Volt smiling & friendly waiter and of course to "Thrity" (wife of Café owner) for extended help and throwing light over the  Café and allowing us to cover the place.

Cross ur line with Croissants

City Bakery which is quite a landmark by itself with its ancient chimney and aromas of freshly baked breads that assail you long before you can see the bakery’s large yellow board at the ever busy junction at Worli Naka in Mumbai. The bakery itself has an ancient look to it with varieties of bread, biscuits, cakes, donuts and many things and yeah! Croissants… still it has maintained its touch of old bakery where you won’t be welcomed by Air Conditioned Welcome Push n Pull door but by the aroma of confectioneries which lingers with you for whole day. Bakery will always be full of people of all TG/Class/SEC/ etc… etc… swarming in and out of the shop. The place not only embraces you with whiff of delicacies but with helpful employees; in fact no one bothered to ask me “Madam kya chahiye” when I took their bakery as my shelter from scorching sun while waiting for my partner in crime (hogging)

Chutney Croissant

Chutney Croissant - Soft and pillowy breakfast croissant stuffed with coriander, cheese and chili

Butter/Cheese Croissant - Warm buttery flaky croissants; right from your oven to plate!

It just melts away and the flavor hits the right taste buds at right time. Every bread in this bakery is made my God… The chutney and bread could have never married in any better way than this.

Guys! Don’t miss out with this place if you are ever in Worli… if you feel these things are heavy for you then after relishing on food take a right from the shop and you will find yourself in the beautiful, calm and serene avenue away from the urban chaos.

Laadi Pav not loaf of bread

The City Bakery is great place to try on with different confectioneries, affordable by all and like Siby (my partner in hogging) says its Fantangnacious!!! (means amazing and out of world).
